Despite an unusually wet and cold October, Mother Nature smiled on Morgan and Jeff's wedding day. The weather was crisp and cool, the couple was utterly adorable, and their family and friends were so full of joy, it was practically palpable - it was the perfect recipe for a gorgeous New Orleans wedding.
Both the ceremony and the reception took place in one of my new favorite venues: Messina's at the Terminal. In case you're wondering, the name is completely literal - Messina's is actually located at the terminal of the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. After the building sustained major damage during Hurricane Katrina, renovators removed the airport's protective concrete walls (erected during the nuclear threat of the 1960s) and uncovered a stunning Art Deco gem. Now, though the Lakefront Airport is still active, the terminal functions as a lovely (and utterly unique) event venue.
Morgan and Jeff got married on the Terminal's Observation Deck. An oddly lovely vista of airplanes and twinkling lights stretched out behind them, but the happy couple clearly only had eyes for each other as they said their heartfelt vows. After the ceremony, the party moved en masse to the Oak Room, where the guests enjoyed a delicious meal of New Orleans favorites. The DJ kept the party going at full blast all night, providing an eclectic mix of music, including everything from current wedding staples "The Cupid Shuffle" and "Uptown Funk," to selections from the musical Grease. At the end of the night, Morgan and Jeff were given a loud and exuberant send-off (complete with bubbles!) - a fitting conclusion to such a joyful celebration of love and family. Congratulations, Morgan and Jeff!
