Though it started out stormy, absolutely nothing was going to dampen the day that Tori and Sadie were finally allowed to legally marry in their home town of New Orleans, Louisiana. Within minutes of their arrival the sun came out, the umbrellas were put away, and they were married on the lovely (if somewhat cramped) balcony of the historic Algiers Courthouse.
Many years ago, Tori's parents surprised everyone by slipping off to the local courthouse to get married. On July 10th, 2015, Tori and Sadie continued that tradition - the wedding was kept largely secret until, on the way to Carousel Bar (where a bucket of champagne waited on ice), Tori called her family to give them the good news.
When the champagne was finished, we were off to the Swirl Wine Bar and Market, where a large group of friends were waiting to hear the news. Though most had figured out that there was some kind of surprise in the works, the newlyweds still took nearly everyone by surprise when they walked in sporting two shiny new rings. There was, of course, much rejoicing.
We finished the night at the Country Club bar and restaurant. There was an impromptu arm wrestling contest, huge piles of tater tots, and (for some inexplicable reason) Waterworld playing on all visible TVs. The food was good. The company was better. The entertainment was...well...c'mon. The entertainment was Waterworld. Seriously though - terrible Kevin Costner movies aside, it was a fitting end to a beautiful day spent celebrating a truly warm and loving couple. Congratulations to the new Mrs. & Mrs. Bennett-Galiano!
